Why Iceland is green and Greenland icy? - AJ Thomas

Why Iceland is green and Greenland icy?

It's confusing, You may not have thought about it right?

Every country has its own significance. The name of the countries are defined by it's nature, culture etc but it's arguable about the name of Iceland, Greenland and it's physical structure.

Greenland and Iceland

More than 80% of Greenland is covered with ice and Iceland is defined by it's dramatic landscapes with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs etc. But the real story behind the name is different.

Norse custom says the place got name Greenland because it was covered in green when Eric the red reached Greenland for the first time. Likewise earlier Iceland was known as snow land because it was covered in snow. Later due to climatic changes it evolved into the current state.

The real scary thing

According to reports the rapid melting of ice shield and changes in temperature will be turning back both place into their original state. which means ice will melt and cover land which is quite scary.

What do you think, Should Iceland and Greenland change or not?
